Pay Range: $75/hr - $85/hr (W2)

Job Description

We are seeking a Director, Creative Music - Theatrical to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in music supervision, film scoring, and source music strategy and a proven ability to shepherd creative music from development through delivery for theatrical films.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with directors, producers, and creative executives to define and execute the musical vision for assigned theatrical films.
  • Engage early in development to guide score, source music, and overall music strategy.
  • Serve as in-house music supervisor across pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Oversee score, source music, needle drops, themes, and temp music to support narrative, tone, and emotion.
  • Supervise spotting sessions, music reviews, and creative discussions with filmmakers and post teams.
  • Identify, recommend, and help secure composers and collaborators with filmmakers' partnership.
  • Guide composers through the scoring process and ensure clear communication across teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with composers, artists, music editors, and scoring partners.
  • Manage music workflows, schedules, recording sessions, dubbing, and final mixes through delivery.
  • Ensure all music is creatively approved, on schedule, and ready for theatrical release.
  • Collaborate with Production, Post-Production, Creative Affairs, Legal, Business Affairs, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Partner with clearance and licensing teams to align creative goals with legal and budget requirements.
  • Support soundtrack, marketing, publicity, and awards initiatives for theatrical releases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in music supervision, film music, or creative music roles in a theatrical or studio environment.
  • End-to-end supervision of feature film music from development through post-production.
  • Deep knowledge of film scoring and source music with strong creative instincts.
  • Established relationships with composers, filmmakers, artists, and industry partners.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple films concurrently across a theatrical slate.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior in-house experience at a major theatrical studio.
  • Experience working directly with high-profile filmmakers and talent.
  • Working knowledge of music licensing, clearance, and budgeting.
