Lead Math Instructor – Mathnasium (Montclair)

Quick Role Summary
As a Lead Instructor, you will oversee the instructional floor during center hours, ensuring students are engaged, instructors are supported, and operations run smoothly. You’ll serve as a coach, leader, and role model, helping maintain consistency and excellence in every session.
This role blends instruction, leadership, and customer experience, and is a key step toward future Center Director opportunities.

What You Will Do
- Lead the instructional floor and manage classroom flow during sessions
- Coach, support, and develop a team of instructors
- Ensure all instruction aligns with the Mathnasium Method
- Deliver high-quality, engaging math instruction to students
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Assist with center tours, consultations, and enrollment conversations
- Act as Manager on Duty; open/close the center as needed
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with the Center Director
- Maintain a structured, positive, and high-energy learning environment
- Support local marketing and community engagement efforts

Requirements
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong math proficiency (through 12th grade)
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate others
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills under pressure
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with consultative conversations and overcoming objections
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required; some college preferred
- Experience working with children required; leadership experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Applications
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time leadership position (20–25 hours per week).
Typical schedule includes:
- Monday–Thursday: Afternoon & evening hours (approx. 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Ability to open and close the center is required.
