Key Responsibilities:
- Own structural, mechanical, and thermal analysis for the vehicle
- Perform structural analysis: FEA, hand calculations, and buckling
- Verify structural interfaces with propulsion, buoyancy, energy, and payload systems
- Drive trade studies balancing strength, weight, corrosion, and cost
- Support prototype builds and structural test campaigns
- Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR) and documentation
- Travel up to 25% to test sites and manufacturing facilities
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in structural design and analysis for marine, aerospace, or robotic systems
- Proficiency with analysis tools (Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent)
- Experience with materials selection for corrosive or high-pressure environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience with submarine or pressure hull structures
- Familiarity with ABS or DNV structural design codes
- Experience with composites and weld analysis
- Experience in defense or maritime robotics
